our why
The Watchmen Project is a journalism fund seeking to expose corruption in our institutions—including government, Big Tech and even the media itself. By empowering independent journalists with funding and resources, the projects aims to enhance the reach of citizen journalists that lack a corporate infrastructure to help develop and distribute their content. The project will also identify potential journalists with real world experience in government or other relevant institutions. Additionally, the fund will help with public relations, social media, distribution, research, and legal support.
Seven in 10 voters don’t trust the media to report on politics accurately and fairly—that’s according to a June 2024 poll conducted from Washington Post. Only 32% of the population reports having "a great deal" or "a fair amount" of confidence that the media reports the news in a full, fair and accurate way according to a 2023 Gallup poll. The Fourth Estate meant to hold our elected representatives and bloated bureaucracy accountable now simply serves as the public relations arm of the government. Real journalism today rests on the soldiers of citizen journalists.
The future of our constitutional republic depends on a critical and vigilant media. The legacy media was captured long ago. It’s time to empower independent and citizen journalist with the tools and resources to counter a captured legacy media.
